Borrowing Items from WCC

Any individual may use library materials inside the library building.

Most items may be borrowed by any UH System student, faculty, or staff. Some are loaned only to WCC students, faculty, and staff. A small number of items are restricted to in-library use only.

To borrow, bring your item(s) and a valid photo ID (passport, driver's license, or state, military, or student ID) to the front desk.

Non-UH System users may borrow most items by purchasing a Community User membership. For more information, visit the Community Users page.

Users with $10 or more in fines are blocked from borrowing items, accessing databases, registering classes and getting transcript and/or diploma.

Borrowing Items from Other UH Campuses

You can request almost any kind of material, even articles, from other UH Libraries to be picked up at the WCC Library.

It can take up to 7-10 days to receive items from other libraries.
You can borrow most items free of charge.
You can place most requests yourself from within the Library Catalog, see the instructions below. Also, a librarian at the Help Desk can help you request the item you want.

You may also visit other UH Libraries to check out and return most materials. Be sure to bring a valid picture ID with you.

1. Use the Library Catalog to find the item

2. Click "Get This Item"

3. Log in

4. Click "Hold or transfer this item"

5. Choose your pickup location

6. Click "Submit Request"

7. Wait to be notified of it's availability via your hawaii.edu email

All requested items are held at the Circulation Desk for ten business days. Any unclaimed items are returned to the shelves at closing and made available for others.
