New Resources @ WCC Library: FAQs

New items added monthly

How do I borrow a book?

Any individual may use library materials inside the library building.

Most items may be borrowed by any UH System student, faculty, or staff. Some are loaned only to WCC students, faculty, and staff. A small number of items are restricted to in-library use only.

To borrow, bring your item(s) and a valid photo ID (passport, driver's license, or state, military, or student ID) to the front desk.

Non-UH System users may borrow most items by purchasing a Community User membership. For more information, visit the Community Users page.

Users with $10 or more in fines are blocked from borrowing items, accessing databases, registering classes and getting transcript and/or diploma.

How do I place an item on Course Reserve?

Use our Reserves service to make supplemental materials and equipment available to your students. You can put personal or library copies of books, articles, videos, and other items on Reserve. You designate whether those materials are available for use within the library only, or can be borrowed for 2 or 7 nights.  (Note: To provide safe access to Reserve materials during the pandemic, the library offers limited scanning of print reserve items.)

See our Course Reserves page for relevant policies, the submission form, and instructions.

How do I make purchasing recommendations?

We always welcome your suggestions for books, films, and other materials that support your curriculum.

To make a suggestion, please contact your discipline liaison librarian:
