WCC Kōnane Tournament: Home

A guide to tournament rules at Windward Community College.

Kōnane at Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau

"An Ancient Hawaiian Game." By Nobody (not jj) - Wikimedia Commons, 29 October 2020.

Kōnane, often referred to as "Hawaiian checkers" is a misnomer. The Hawaiian version of the game is considerably more complex than the popular American version. Kōnane could be used like chess for the mental training of warriors in planning battle strategy... (Mitchell, D. K. (2006). Hawaiian Games to Play. Honolulu, HI: Kamehameha Publishing, p. 63)
