This provides information on the research process, planning an interpretation of history for an audience, resources for finding background information, research, and primary sources, and tips on citing.

It's All in the Name(s)

Names are crucial for finding historical information

As you do your research, make a list of all the significant names you find (include alternate names and spellings).

  • Names of influential individuals; legendary, historical, and honorific
  • Names of empires and historical periods
  • Names of groups of people, nationalities, etc.
  • Names of places; geographic and political.
  • Names of events

Knowing these can help you discover the information you need and identify the information you have.
