The Hawaii Office of Elections is the final authority on election policy, procedures, and deadlines in Hawaii. The information here is provided as general guidance, only.

Mail-in or Online Voter Registration
Deadline is 30 days prior to the election
Primary: 4:30 P.M. July 12, 2018
General: 4:30 P.M. Oct. 10, 2018

Request a Permanent or One-Time Mail Ballot 
Deadline is 7 days prior to the election
Primary: 4:30 P.M. Aug. 4, 2018
General: 4:30 P.M. Oct. 30, 2018

Voting Dates for Absentee (Mail) Ballot
Received by the Clerk's Office by close of polls on election day
Primary: Aug. 11, 2018, 6 P.M. 
General: Nov. 6, 2018, 6 P.M. 

Walk-in Registration & Voting Dates
Primary: July 30, 2018 – Aug. 9, 2018
General: Oct. 23, 2018 – Nov. 3, 2018

Polls open at 7 A.M. The line to vote closes at 6 P.M.

Registering to Vote in Hawaiʻi for the First Time

If registering to vote in Hawaii for the first time, you'll need to show proof of your name & address:

☑ When you register, OR at
☑ Walk-In Early Voting, OR at
☑ Your polling place on Election Day

Current, valid photo ID
Current Utility bill
Bank statement
Government-issued check
Paycheck, or
Another government document
